Brett Kane is an independent photographer originally from a small desert town called, Hermiston Oregon. He’s currently located in Spokane, Washington.
“I’ve never attempted to describe my brand before. I just like taking photos that make me feel nostalgic.” says the artist, “I guess I want my photos to feel what it’s like to daydream on a hot summer afternoon.”
Brett is inspired by just about everything. Photography isn’t the only element that inspires the photos he takes.
He gets a lot of his ideas and concepts from music and films also. “I’ve gotten a lot of inspiration from the music of Frank Ocean and Tyler, the Creator before in the past. I’m inspired by movies like, Call Me By Your Name, The Lighthouse, Chungking Express, and in the Mood for Love”
In college he really wanted to work in the film industry. Movies have big a big inspiration for Brett since he was a kid. But after graduating and moving back home, photography became such an important and fulfilling part of Bretts life.
“It was like working on a film, without the big crews and months and months of pre- and post-production.” says Brett.
Brett doesn’t really have a five year plan, but he would love to shoot for a magazine like GQ or Variety one day. He still would like to make films as well.
“I want to move again, eventually and see more of our world. I’d like to live in an even bigger city. My girlfriend Kira and I are also planning our own zine.”
