Omar Angel Bravo, aka “Hungry” is an Arkansas based artist. “I think that the word ‘hungry’ can be used to describe anything you really want. You don’t have to only be hungry for food. You can be hungry for a new pair of shoes, or you can be hungry to obtain a certain goal.. That’s what Hungry means to me.”
In terms of a broad answer, color is what inspires Hungry to be an artist. They tend to work with brighter, fluorescent colors, things that glow in the dark because they like the way it feels to connect to a certain kid-like wonder.
“It’s a pretty fun and wholesome feeling. I like to think a lot of us as adults today need to be reminded of this sense of wonder. Sometime’s its pretty easy to lose yourself in today’s world. So it’s good to reconnect with it.” says Hungry.
Hungry plans to one day have their own personal studio space with all their screen printings, sewing supplies, paintings and maybe some space for a car so they can have all their “work” in one place.
They like to have fun wherever they can, so putting it all in one place would be the dream!
Next to that, they would love to curate more work. Now that they have a slight idea of how to plan a gallery, they know they can make the next one even better! “It makes me super excited to think about it. Last but not least, I’d really love to put together a rave. maybe in the future it’ll happen.”
Hungry has recently been published in the May 23rd-29th NWA Arkansas Democrat-Gazette which was a huge milestone for them. Also one of the best birthday presents since their birthday is May 24th!
From ages 18-20 Hungry was showcased in some art shows/galleries in Springdale.
Hungry was a featured designer for the NWAFW Spring 2019 show. Shortly after, they worked for NWAFW (now INTERFORM) making cloth masks that were donated to local facilities.
Hungry also has curated their own gallery here in Springdale called (a)Typical Sanctuary over at 214 S Main St!
