Londan Booth - Meet the Artist

Londan is a soon to be graduate from UAFS with a degree in Psychology and Studio Art. Some of her dreams consist of utilizing art therapy to give people tools that can enrich their life and provide a limitless existence. She has a passion for large scale and prefers to work with oils and mixed media. This past year she has concentrated on the power of inner and outer healing while discovering and flipping her artistic puzzle pieces. She has referred to this season as a time of ‘spiritual vomit.’

In life, we collect experiences, and whether they are good or bad, they are ours. We must honor that. As an artist, I like to use all mediums as a therapeutic catalyst to express what Is easier seen than heard. I find comfort in knowing that colors and shapes can effectively show what I’m feeling.

"I was heavily influenced by Don Lee while in school and even still. He showed me how to view the world in shapes rather than objects; in doing so, what started as a challenging exercise became merely a part of me. I usually spend a lot of time staring at the canvas, flipping it, and allowing marks to speak for themselves. Interesting objects seem to find me on hikes or throughout my day. These objects may inspire part of a whole or actually be used within a work. I am still learning how to coordinate the narrative, but I’m enjoying the raw and exhausting process that it’s guiding me through." says Londan.

Londan will be graduating soon, and going into a much-needed hibernation before she moves to Chicago, where she'll be working with the Art Institute and other organizations. Londan plans to dissolve herself into the city while seeking new opportunities and experiences within the art therapy community.
